Asigra report highlights benefits of virtual disaster recovery, deduplication - eWeek

Companies and service providers achieve with cloud based backup and recovery solutions ?significant Returns? it investments, according to internal field research of cloud backup and recovery software provider Asigra published.

The returns cited include large hardware and software investments, greatly reduced maintenance and support costs and better use of it resources to more strategic IT objectives.

The report said that the benefits of technologies are driven, the full range of cloud based data protection and allow to eliminate recovery of mixed virtual operating system and physical environments for complete data protection, the traditional cocktail of backup and disaster recovery applications to buy, manage and maintain. ?The acquisition, management and maintenance communication and different operating environments is costs for management of multiple islands of data protection for virtual environments, databases, business systems, with an open cloud backup solution, ? the report said reduced.

The study found that capital costs are further reduced by reducing the storage requirements by using of advanced global deduplication. Instead of inefficient deduplication, scenarios, such as redundant deduplication, the unnecessary CPU and slow system operations control, occurs on global data deduplication only when needed to load before travel via LAN or to reduce WAN in the cloud.

?Global deduplication has significantly reduce hardware requirements without affecting the backup performance in both small and large companies operations, ? the report said. ?The intelligent management of this backup data with tiered recovery technologies then can align the user recovery time objectives and storage cost based on the value of the data, which is set by the user via policies. ?

Asigra cloud backup is designed to provide efficiency not available with traditional backup architecture allows organizations of less capture backup, record less and less Data?reducing save the amount of backup assets to purchase, manage and maintain. Global deduplication technology was developed, to prevent redundant data, that when you back up data on the local recovery appliance and cloud storage.

The company claimed global data deduplication makes the process more effective and increase the data deduplication ratio (the ratio of protected capacity to the actual physical capacity stored), allowing to reduce the required capacity of the storage hardware for backup data. Asigra cloud backup offers also the possibility, several animal recovery achieved by backup lifecycle management, local only backup and system agnostic storage interoperability.

For virtual disaster recovery, recover from a hardware configuration to a different hardware configuration takes place without reinstallation of software applications, patches or service packs. Restore ability, on different hardware configurations with the Solution?s it is an inherent function restore physical servers to virtual servers (P2V) while retaining the granularity of each recovery file for backup software platforms required. With this functionality the software to a physical environment of Company?s in the area can be a virtual environment to create.

?With that cloud backup market continue to climb and a growing number of solutions are entering the market, users faced with an increasing number of options to choose from, ?, said Ashar Baig, senior director of product marketing for Asigra. ?While cloud backup can offer great benefits, customers can really their returns by clicking on these solutions with features on their needs. escalate ? tuned
